Corporate email and payroll information accessed, apparently, nothing
operational.

Meanwhile gWr have recently reported a minor data breach because as part of
a "war on waste", an email was sent out to all those still receiving paper
payslips, unfortunately it was CC'd to all recipients in plain sight rather
than BCC'd or emailed individually, thus an individual's payroll
preferences were visible to others.

The average El Reg reader is. It's a typo that's become a term of art
in the specialism where it was first observed, like hodl.

The average El Reg reader is. It's a typo
even if spelt correctly, I still don't know to what online phenomena it is
referring without looking it up (which FTAOD, I did)

"Hold", a plea to others not to sell an investment, often one trading at
an inflated price such as Bitcoin or Gamestop stock. The idea is that
if everyone holds the price will rise further, the problem being that
any attempt to realise that paper valuation may result in a crash.

a crash in the value of Bitcoin would be good for everybody (in the long
term)

Most people who read the register and here will. Those who don't should
be quite capable of looking it up.

A nice definition is here:-
