Finally!

This is a simple, obvious, no-brainer scheme that should have happened
years ago.

Which is why it didn't.

Trying to recall when reopening to passengers was first mooted, possibly
around the time of GWR 150 when some steam specials ran from Bristol as
part of the events .A run around loop was specially laid to enable the
locomotive to run around.

Always thought it a shame the relocated Portishead station opened in 1954
had such a short life,
architecturally it was quite pleasant for the 1950’s compared to much of
the concrete of the period,
nicely finished with a stone look. It became a garage until recent times
when a large supermarket redeveloped the site.

As it was

I thought so, sometime in the 1980’s I was passing exploring the area and
pulled in for fuel,
I was about halfway to full when I realised I was at the former station.
