I've got an off-peak day travelcard for tomorrow (Zones 1-6). I need
to make a return trip to Weybridge - can I still buy a 'Boundary Zone
6' to 'Weybridge' return (Day Return/Cheap Day Return)? If so, can
that be purchased from Waterloo when I present my travelcard? Can I
get on any train then from Waterloo to Weybridge, even those that don't
stop at any intermeidate station (well they do, but just for info)?

ICBW but I think that you can't do this with a day travel card - only
with a multi day one.

You'd need to buy a (C)DR to Weybridge from the last station in zone 6
that the train stops at - you can buy it at Waterloo.

Would be interested to know a desfinitive answer - or how you got on.

You can certainly do it with an out-boundary off-peak day travelcard. I
often buy one of those from (say) Peterborough, then, at Waterloo, buy a day
return from Boundary Zone 6 to wherever I want to go in the south. You
don't have to stop at the boundary. My gripe (see earlier threads) is that
you can't do it from north of Newark. This would be particularly useful at
weekends when there is no time restriction. Is there a definitive list of
out-boundary stations which can issue out-boundary travelcards?

Presumably in the National Fares Manual, but I've never come across a
generally available list. However, they are issued from all Network
SouthEast stations outside Greater London. Outside NSE it seems to be at the
whim at the TOC that sets the fare for the journey to London.

You used to be able to buy a boundary-zone add-on for a one day
travelcard. On the Weybridge line the "boundary" is just past Surbiton,
so a Surbiton-Weybridge ticket shouldn't be very much more, in any
event. And all the Weybridge trains stop at Surbiton (indeed it may well
be better to catch a fast to Surbiton then change to the local).

Surbiton to Weybridge is liekly to be cheaper than Boundary Zone 6 to
Weybridge, as the BZ6 ticket will also be valid via Staines.

National Rail gives:

Surbiton to Weybridge Return

CHEAP DAY RETURN 3.40 GBP

STANDARD DAY RETURN 5.40 GBP

FIRST DAY RETURN 10.40 GBP

Lots of tickets from East Croydon to South Coast destinations are cheaper
than BZ6 to the same destination, for a similar reason.
