Post by G***@live.co.ukPost by Stephen FurleyHow many different sub-classes are there of these units, and what are the
main differences between them?
377/1 and 377/4 are 4-car DC only. They are technically identical but one
batch has 3+2 seating in the outer (driving) cars and 2+2 in the inner and
the other batch is the other way round (I can never tall which is which!)
The major difference between /1 and /4 was the seat covers on /1 were a dark
coloured velour (the same as /3). The /1 and /3 luggage racks are solid
glass rather than plastic. All sub-classes been refurbished to have the same
seat coverings and colour scheme. /2 and /4 tend to have a glass partition
(no door) in the middle of the end carriages and a partition with a door
between standard and first classes.
The seating arrangments are one of:
- 2+2 throughout (some /1 and all /3 as built (but this may have been
changed).
- 2+2 end-cars, 3+2 inner cars - I think all /2 and /4 follow this pattern.
- 2+2 and 2+3 in all cars, the 2+2 seating is at the ends of each car with
2+3 between each set of doors.
Post by G***@live.co.uk377/2 and 377/5 are 4-car dual voltage and are technically identical; not
sure about seating arrangements. At present, 377/5 all work on
Southeastern on the Maidstone East line.
377/3 are 3-car DC only
377/6 are 5-car DC only
377/7 are 5-car dual voltage.
