Recent thread about the Isle of Wight has got me thinking about the longest-lasting rolling stock in the UK, and I wondered which passenger-carrying vehicles lasted longest.
Off the top of my head, the Glasgow Subway has to be a likely contender, with some of the original vehicles lasting over 79 years in service. The Isle of Wight 1938 stock vehicles will reach that age some time next year. Has anything else come close to that?
Other long-lasting trains include London Underground's A Stock at just on 50 years, and all remaining Mark 1 vehicles, while not in everyday service, are at least that old, occasionally carrying passengers on the main line.
What else?
